Empath

A lot of people don't know what an empath is. When people have heard it, they usually associate it with witchcraft.  If you search, "What does it mean to be an empath?" This is what you can find under the tab of questions that always pop up on google. " Empaths are highly sensitive individuals, who have a keen ability to sense what people around them are thinking and feeling. Psychologists may use the term empath to describe a person that experiences a great deal of empathy, often to the point of taking the pain of others at their own expense." but the dictionary defines it as follows, which is why some people only know it as relating to witchcraft. Dictionary definition: " (chiefly in science fiction) a person with the paranormal ability to apprehend the mental or emotional state of another individual." It's not easy being an empath. All I'm saying is take it easy on us. We do care about everything you have to tell us, but give...

high school harassment 1

Hey guys! I wanted to share my story of sexual harassment and assault. I've never wanted to really put it out there, but I think it's time to let it out. This will not be my only post about my experiences in high school, but as it is difficult to think and talk about it, I will write about it in sections. **Names have been changed for privacy reasons** Everything I am about to tell you is a true story and it all happened at my high school. I was dating a guy during my junior year, his name is Tom. We only dated about 3 months, but during that time there was another boy who really liked me and had wanted to pursue me in the past. His name is Mac. Mac had a history of depression, anxiety, social anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. He played all of these off as jokes when he was around others, but not with me. It was towards the end of me and tom's relationship, probably around 3/4 of the way through. He still cared about me and was thoughtful as far as I could tell. I w...

Thanksgiving Post

Hey everyone! I just wanted to remind everyone to be thankful for every person in their life. Honestly, you never know how much longer a particular person will be in your life. I share that with as many people as I can because while a lot of people my age still have all their grandparents... I unfortunately, do not. I have one grandparent left, my grandmother. I call her "nana". The sad part about seeing my nana is that she doesn't remember my name and sometimes she thinks I am my aunt's daughter, Allison. Allison and I look nothing alike, but I understand. She has Alzheimers and for anyone who hasn't experienced it first-hand, it's extremely heartbreaking. Please remember to be thankful your family and give everyone a nice big hug. If a disagreement arrises like they usually do when many people are in the same room for a long time... use your interpersonal communication skills and work it out. Just remember that each and every one of us is lucky to be...

PSA

PSA: ------- EVERYONE: Please stop using the word "gay", "bitch", "slut", "whore", the "n-word", and the "f-word" as derogatory terms. (no I don't mean fuck) You never know who you're hurting and it's just better to keep it to yourself. " If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all ". I have now been faced with quite a few situations where I ran into people using the "f-word" and gay as a derogatory terms and I knew that if I didn't say something, that it was going to make me feel guilty. I know it's just not the right thing to do. Just because I have short hair doesn't mean anyone should assume my: gender identity, sexual orientation, or anything else for that matter. Not only should people stop assuming, but they need to stop coming up and asking about my sexual orientation or gender identity. Just keep the questions to yourself, please.  I shaved my...

First Post: About me, Why did I start blogging?

I am hoping that all of you who are reading my blog enjoy it :) I really do like to write, but I've never wanted to put my voice out there. Well now is the time to get a move on! I need to be vulnerable and open in this world because eventually, it will make a big difference and have a greater impact on my life and hopefully in yours too! If I can help just one person by sharing my thoughts, opinions, and stories then I will feel like I succeeded. In this post, I will just tell you a little bit about myself... I'm a freshman at Lynchburg College. The new name of my school is the University of Lynchburg. I'm from Richmond, VA; The West End, Short Pump side of RVA. I hated high school, the whole thing not just parts of it. I have many things that I am super passionate about. I'm a Democrat. I'm a huge feminist. (No, I don't hate men) I shaved my head last February.
